Christmas Gift Guide: For the Discerning Man

This is a gift guide I am writing for myself, for ideas for the future! I’ve always found it difficult to buy gifts for my husband for several reasons: 1) he has excellent taste, 2) he always gives wonderful, thoughtful gifts, and 3) the bar is so high! Over our years together, I’ve managed to find a few really great gifts, which I’m sharing below, along with the gifts I’m thinking about this year.

(A note: all my gift guides are free of affiliate links and only list gifts I’ve given, received, or plan to give (and hope to receive!) I hope you find these guides useful–please leave me a comment and let me know!)

A made-to-measure shirt, various pricing, Sid Mashburn: This is my go-to gift for bigger holidays or anniversaries. I’ve been a customer of Ann Mashburn’s since graduating from college, and I love getting to shop at Sid Mashburn for my husband! The quality of Sid Mashburn’s made-to-measure shirts are excellent, especially for the very reasonable price. You can customize everything from the collar to fabric and cuffs, and the shirt will fit perfectly. If you want the gift to be a surprise, you can also give a made-to-measure gift certificate.

Leather tray, various pricing, Sid Mashburn: Okay, another Mashburn gift here (really, I find a lot of my shopping is done at Mashburn–it’s one-stop shopping with the best customer service!) I love these leather trays as a great catch-all for the accumulation of the day. The leather is excellent quality and these unsnap to lie flat, so you can bring them on your travels with you! Soft small trays are $55, small trays are $95, the medium size is $125, and the large is $150. Find all sizes here!

Shearling slippers, $148, Brooks Brothers: I bought these slippers for my husband for one of our anniversaries and he loves them–they are great quality and very comfortable, according to him! Plus they look a little nicer than the bulkier shearling slippers you can find.

Ornaments, various pricing, Scully & Scully: We love Scully & Scully so much, and especially at Christmas! My son and I have started a little tradition where he picks out a new ornament to give to his father each year. These handpainted pewter ones will certainly be heirlooms!

Manicure set, $60, Barbour via Tuckernuck: A very practical gift–a great small present or stocking stuffer. It’s nice to have everything together, and the nice case will keep your bathroom from getting too cluttered.

What are your go-to gifts for the men in your life? I’m always looking for more ideas!
