Top Drawer: LL Bean Mocs

I’ve been a lifelong Bean Boot wearer, but in recent years I haven’t found Bean Boots as practical for everyday use as they once were. I finally bit the bullet and bought Bean Mocs at the beginning of the pandemic and haven’t looked back.

The true winning feature of the Mocs is, for me, their ease of use. I can just slip them on and go outside and get the mail, or play in the backyard with my child, or wear them on rainy days for drop-off. They are beyond practical—waterproof, slushproof—and so easy to wear. It’s no wonder that when fall rolls around, they are everywhere in our town.

I find them practical for both country use and city use. They’re easy to clean (crucial when wearing in the city or in the mud!) and have held up so well to heavy and daily use for three seasons out of the year. They are sturdy, not too heavy, and not too hot. They hold their shape and after the initial (short) breaking-in period, I’m not adjusting my laces any longer.

Sizing-wise, they run a full size too big, so size down. I generally wear a 37 and their 6M size fits perfectly with thick socks. These receive my stamp of approval as a great fall and winter shoe.
