Small Changes, Big Impact
I’ve been bitten by the spring cleaning bug. This is a rare occurrence, so I’m taking full advantage and spending as much time as possible going through absolutely everything–the basement, closets, and everything else. Part of reorganizing and cleaning up has involved rearranging just about everything in the house, a lot of which I did earlier this week.
We had the floors refinished and living room, dining room, and kitchen painted late last year, so all of the furniture had been moved from its usual place, and not necessarily placed back where it belonged as we determined whether or not they would be more useful elsewhere. Anyway, after spending months thinking about where things should go, I finally felt like I had a good floorplan in my head–and then moved a great deal around.
One of the pieces I was most excited to find a proper home for was a beautiful pedestal table I bought for my husband just before we were married. I moved it from our foyer to the living room, between our sofa and armchair, and it fits perfectly and looks lovely. I can’t stop looking at it. I love the color of the wood–it’s a stunning flame mahogany–and its beautiful shape. It’s a small change, replacing a different side table, but it’s one that’s made a huge impact on the room.
We still have a long way to go, but I am having a wonderful time!
