Five Last-Minute Christmas Gifts That Will Still Arrive in Time

I thought I was so organized this year, and in a way I was–I made my list of Christmas gifts, checked it twice, and started shopping… but I still have a few things left to buy. While shopping small and locally is always an option (and my preferred option!), sometimes there just isn’t anything you need currently available. Here are my five last-minute Christmas gifts that will still arrive in time! (And as a reminder, you can find my full gift guide here!)

Dedicate a bench in your favorite park: When my husband and I were first married, we lived across the street from Central Park and took daily walks there. I always loved reading the dedications on the benches (you can find many here!), and for a very special occasion, dedicating a bench would be a fantastic present. While the Central Park “adopt-a-bench” program is definitely a bit steep at $10,000 per bench, and best saved for a very special occasion, you can also endow a tree ($5,000 for a mature tree, $500 for a sapling) or plant flowers ($50). Not only are you contributing to the preservation of a national landmark, you’re honoring past memories and creating new ones for the years to come. You’ll be able to print out the acknowledgement letter and place under the tree, just in time.

A museum membership card

A museum membership is such a great gift to give, especially to one that’s more off the beaten path! It’s a go-to gift for me to give (and receive!) While the actual card may be a bit delayed, you’ll be able to gift the temporary card on the day of the holiday.

Tickets to the opera or theatre

We received opera tickets for our wedding, which was such a fun and thoughtful gesture! The entire evening becomes the gift and it will be a memorable choice for your recipient. It’s also a great way to get back in the habit of getting dressed up and going places now that things seem to be settling down again.

Really delicious food

Goldbelly is an absolutely brilliant idea, and I love the thought of sending a favorite food to loved ones. My favorite places on Goldbelly are Russ & Daughters, Ess-a-Bagel, Ferrara’s, Joe’s Pizza, Angelina’s (the best crab cakes!), and Blue Ribbon Sushi–but there are so many wonderful options!

A made-to-measure shirt

This is absolutely my go-to gift for my husband–I give one at least once a year. It’s a wonderful way to get exactly what he wants and have the shirt fit him perfectly. Sid Mashburn’s clothes are of the best quality and their service is impeccable. You can choose an amount and have an e-gift card sent to you to print and wrap, or to be sent to your recipient on a specific date.

What are your go-to last-minute gifts?

  1. I sent the Russ and Daughters breakfast at your suggestion to out-of-town family. I used the e-gift option so they could order at their convenience. I sent it early and it was a hit. Thank-you!
