Coffee Talk

New year, new coffee talk–but let’s make it champagne as we begin a new year! 🙂 Come join us as we start off 2022 on (hopefully) the right foot… previous coffee talks can be found here! I love getting to know you all through our virtual coffees.

Did you have a good holiday season?

We did! It was so nice to stay at home and not have to travel,. I’m so grateful for our health and being at home with my family.

What was your favorite part of 2021?

Honestly, 2021 was a pretty good year, all world events considering! I loved starting this blog and meeting all of you. I also loved finally seeing the event I planned for two and a half years finally happen! (All attendees/vendors were vaccinated AND tested negative within 72 hours in advance of the event.)

What do you hope to accomplish in 2022?

I wrote a little about my goals in last month’s Coffee Talk, and I’d also like to add a few! I’d really like to track all of my expenses this year. I’d like to redesign my website to make it more accessible and user-friendly, including adding a “sign up for new posts” feature that I’ve had a few requests for. Finally, I’d really like to get a small business idea I’ve had off the ground.

What’s on your mind as we enter another new year?

I’m worried about a lot of things, honestly–covid continuing, Afghanistan, and the contempt so many people seem to have for their neighbors. The world seems more and more divisive; I’m hoping, in my small way, I can help create a caring and loving community for my family. Not to sound preachy–I need to work on this as much as anyone!–but social media echo chambers really do seem to cause greater divisiveness, and I’m working to not be so reflexive in my thinking.

What are you most grateful for as we begin a new year?

I’m grateful for my family, my friends, and for you! I’ve so enjoyed beginning this blog and getting to connect with so many amazing women! Community is incredibly important to me, and I’m grateful for my in-person community as well as this virtual one. Thank you so much for reading along in 2021, and I hope you continue to in 2022!

I love reading your answers–thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂

  1. Hi! Yay, a coffee talk post 🙂 So glad you had a good holiday season!
    1. We had a great holiday season, too. We also didn’t travel anywhere and enjoyed a relaxing holiday with family.
    2. I think launching my book series/website/all the things that have gone along with it was my favorite part of 2021. It was also a big year for home renovations – we have a lot more room for outdoor entertaining now, which I love.
    3. I’ve made specific SMART goals for growing my business in 2022, which I look forward to tackling. We’re also planning a lot of home improvements for this winter/spring.
    4. I’m actually pretty worried, anxious, and tired as we enter 2022. The worries you mentioned are on my mind as well. I would love to see the media/people in general stop focusing so much on generational divides, too.
    5. Health, family, friends, my day job, and the community that has grown around my side hustle.
Hope you had a wonderful New Year’s!

    1. Hi Sara! So glad you had a lovely holiday season and could be with your family!

I can’t wait to read your books, and I’m eager to see more of your home renovations!! I love taking a peek at people’s interior posts 🙂

Congratulations on making such great goals for the upcoming year! I need to commit some goals to paper myself.

      Yes, I agree!!

What wonderful things to be grateful for!! ❤️ Happy New Year!

  2. Oooh, I can’t wait to hear about this small business idea!

Did you have a good holiday season?
Work is always busy around the holidays, but it was extra busy this year because I was off-boarding at my corporate job and ramping up my own business. It feels negative to say I’m ready to get back to real life because I’m so grateful to be with our families in Connecticut, but after months (years?) of not having a real routine, I’m super excited to go home and set one up for myself.

What was your favorite part of 2021?
Starting medication for my anxiety! Probably not the kind of answer you were expecting, ha, but finally finding the right treatment was the mental equivalent of putting on glasses for the first time and realizing the world is not actually blurry.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2022?
Spend as much time as possible serving/loving on my family, finish decorating our house, grow my business, and prioritize my mental health.

What’s on your mind as we enter another new year?
I’m so tired. I’ve been lucky to not yet get Covid (as far as I know), but the way this variant is spreading, I know it’s going to happen. I’ve been exercising a good amount of caution since the pandemic started, and I thought 2022 was going to be the year I started getting my life back. We’ll see!

What are you most grateful for as we begin a new year?
    My family, always!

    1. I am so happy for you and so excited for your year ahead!! Getting help for mental health is so tough and finding the right medication is also so difficult–and I feel like getting things “in order” at this time of our lives (especially with the pandemic!) is crucial for setting good groundwork for the rest!! I’m so glad for you!!! ❤️

(Also, would LOVE to talk to you about this business idea–!!!)

  3. I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now but have never left a comment. No better time than this Coffee Talk ! 🙂

Did you have a good holiday season? – Yes! Almost all of my immediate and extended family lives within 20 minutes of me so I’ve been grateful to be able to see them the past two years.

What was your favorite part of 2021?- Volunteering. My original goal was to volunteer 30 hours in 2021 and I finished the year with 59 hours!

What do you hope to accomplish in 2022? -I’d like to see my closest friends at least quarterly and to volunteer 75 hours.

What’s on your mind as we enter another new year? – I really hope the NY Giants aren’t as bad in 2022 as they were in 2021!

What are you most grateful for as we begin a new year?- Just being alive and healthy!

    1. Hi Lauren! Thank you so much for reading, and I’m so glad to see you at our virtual coffee talk 🙂
