What’s On My Fall Shopping List?

Yes, it’s August, but I’m gearing up for back-to-school season for the first time since college, so I have a lot of things for my little one on our back-to-school list! Of course, I have a few things on my personal fall shopping list too. I’ve been writing this blog for just over a year now, so I’ve had a lot of time to go through my wardrobe, find the holes in it, and get rid of pieces that no longer worked for my life. I’m excited to start this year of writing Fewer & Better with a commitment to filling in the wardrobe gaps and further compiling my ideal wardrobe.

So here’s what’s on my list! I’m going to be sharing some fall outfit posts beginning next week. Again, I realize that it is still August, but we had a cool morning earlier in the month that made me so excited for fall (and I was able to shoot outfit posts without sweating to death!)

Straight-leg jeans

I was a lifelong skinny jean wearer, but once I hit my thirties, I’m finding more ease and grace in straight-legged pants. I found a great pair* from Old Navy and I’m really surprised how wonderful they are!

A great white shirt

I’m a big fan of my Boyfriend Shirt from Ann Mashburn, but sometimes you just need a more tailored look. She has a few white shirts I’ve had my eye on for some time, so I’m hoping to try those out soon.

New Belgians

I love my Stubbs and Zalo slippers, but there’s something very “New York in the fall” about Belgians. I’m bought a pair of brown calfskin Belgians with black trim and I love them!

A dress for my black tie event

I loved the outfit I wore for last October’s dinner dance, but I need to switch things up a little bit this year due to the slight change in the event’s timeline. (Last year we had two fantastic actors do the best reading from Noël Coward’s play Private Lives; I was honored to introduce them!) I have my eye on a few things from Molly Moorkamp.

A new bag

After many, many years of heavy use, my large Longchamp is finally giving up the ghost (this is the reason you’ve seen my tote bags on constant rotation during my commute lately!) I have my eye on something special from Mark Cross, but we’ll see about that!

  1. I got a Mark Cross briefcase earlier this year after you mentioned the brand. I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s beautifully finished.

    1. I’m so happy to hear that, Randy!! 🙂 The quality of their products is really exceptional and I am grateful they’ve been one of the brands that truly still have the same commitment to craftsmanship as when they were founded.
