Five Things

Five Things, Vol. 7

Every once in a while, I’ll pull together a “five things” post—pieces I’m loving, new-to-me shops, things I’ve read, and so on. Here’s what’s been on my mind as we head into June…

The launch of Gallola!
I’ve been following Gallola, the brainchild of the fantastic sisters Katrina and Lexie von Hahn, for a little over a year now, and was so excited when they launched in May! Lexie and Katrina kindly sent me a pair of shoes to review. While the full review is coming soon, spoiler: they are fantastic! More to come… in the meantime, I highly recommend my pair. Follow them on Instagram here.

By Merryn scarves
I’m a broken record here, but when I find a brand I love, I’m loyal to them forever. I’ve been eagerly awaiting By Merryn’s scarves and I was absolutely delighted to see them go live this week. With all the handcrafting you’d expect from By Merryn, the scarves seem to be true works of art. Now to decide between the surfboards and flowers…! (And, a reminder! You can find my exclusive discount code here.)

The Carriage House by Molly Solich Design
My friend Molly, the interior designer behind Molly Solich Design, recently launched her own gorgeous by-appointment-only shop, The Carriage House. I want to plan a trip to Houston to browse in person, but luckily she’s also listing her finds online on Instagram and Chairish! I can’t wait to see what she discovers next!

Summer Dress MVP
While shifts have been a wardrobe staple for years (here‘s a vintage one I love, and I can’t wait to share my new Molly Moorkamp shift), there may be a new MVP in town: the shirtdress. I picked up this shirtdress in town a J. McLaughlin last week to use as a beach coverup and fell head over heels for it. The dress is polished, comfortable, and light enough to wear on the hottest summer days (we did have one before Juneuary kicked in)! I definitely want to add the chambray to my wardrobe, and I’m eyeing a Julia Amory shirtdress as well.

Ann Mashburn Made-to-Order
Ann Mashburn has finally launched their made-to-order services online! You can choose between a number of silhouettes, fabrics, and styles. I can’t wait to order a few pieces. The Ann Mashburn Boyfriend Shirt is my favorite silhouette they offer, and you can see that style on my blog here, and you can read Ann’s thoughts on the MTO process here.

  1. I live in shirtdresses during the summer! It’s very hot and very humid here so I love that they’re help you look put together despite sweating all day.

Also, I think you might like Hearts and Found on Etsy! They do MTO vintage inspired clothes (including a few shirtdress styles) that are great quality and feature a cotton lining. You can customize measurements and choose among a lot of beautiful fabrics in natural fibers. It’s a small, woman-owned business based in Vietnam, so I feel she does tailored summer clothing well.

    1. Ooh, thank you so much for the rec! Can’t wait to check out her Etsy shop. I love supporting small women-owned businesses 😊 and you are so right, shirtdresses are a great way to stay cool and elegant in the summer heat!
